Glen Cove Self Storage Amenities

Our Glen Cove, New York location has a variety of self-storage sizes, from small 5’ x 5’ units to extra large 12’ x 30’ units. And if you’re not sure how much of your stuff will fit in our units, our staff are here to help you out.

Climate-Controlled Units

Our climate-controlled units stay 55°F in the winter and 78°F in the summer. Temperature fluctuations are bad for wood, furniture, clothing and collectibles, so we keep your things cozy and in tip-top shape all year round.

24-Hour Security Cameras

Our security cameras operate 24/7/365, so we can keep an eye on your and everyone else in the facility.

24 Hour Access

You have access to your self-storage unit any time, whether day, night or weekend. Your stuff, your schedule. That’s how it should be.

Motion-Activated Lighting

If you have a burning desire to check on great-nonna’s wedding China at 2 a.m., we won’t judge. We have bright, motion-activated lighting in our facility, including hallways and entrances. We can see you, and you can see what you’re doing.

Digital Security System

Safety is our number one concern for both our clients and their possessions, so every customer is assigned an individual digital access code. It’s how you access the facility, the elevator and your storage unit.

Elevators

Is there anything worse than schlepping boxes up and down stairs? Save your back, use our elevator. Just make sure you have your personal security code with you, or you won’t be able to operate it.

Covered Indoor Loading Areas

There’s not much we can do to control the weather, but we can keep you out of it while you move your possessions. We have covered indoor loading areas to keep the weather out while you move in or out.

Elevated Loading Platforms

We have elevated loading platforms that let you back the truck up, open the back and walk right onto the loading platform from the truck. No one will be stuck with the heavy end of the couch lifting it onto the platform.

Rental Parking Spaces

Parking on Long Island can be a challenge, and your neighbours or landlords may frown on parking your RV on your lawn for the winter. No problem, you can rent a space to keep your boat, RV or camper for the winter inside our fenced and gated facility.

Free Wi-Fi

No need to burn through your data plan while you’re in our facility. We offer free Wi-Fi to all our customers while they are at our self-storage facility.

Fenced and Gated

Our Glen Cove location is fenced and gated, you need your digital access code to go in or out and we have lots of on-site parking available once you’re inside.

No-Contact Rental/Online Bill Pay

We get it, you’re shy. It’s okay. You can view your account and make your payments online at your convenience. (As long as you pay when it’s due, of course.)

Boxes, Packing and Moving Supplies

Boxes and papers and packing tape, oh my! We have all the moving and packing supplies you need to keep your belongings safe and sound.

Dollies and Hand Carts

Roll with it, baby! We have dollies and hand carts you can borrow while you are on the premises.

Month-to-Month Rentals

We understand. You’re going through a thing, and you only need storage for a couple of months.  We offer month-to-month rentals to keep your stuff safe while you figure out things, survive the reno or wait for your college term to start again.

Drive-Up Units

Sometimes you just want to get in, get ‘er done and get out again. We offer the convenience of exterior units you can drive up to load and unload right at the unit. So when you’re swapping out the snowblower for the whipper-snipper, or the kayak for the inflatable Snoopy, you can be in and out fast.

Protection Plan Available

If you’ve ever wondered if you need storage insurance...you do, and you can learn more in Gain Peace of Mind with Storage Insurance. Then you can opt-in for as little as $10 a month. Our awesome staff can explain things further and help get you set up.

Shipping Services

Did you know you can ship small packages to our location rather than home, and we’ll hang onto them for you for 48 hours? That should give you enough time to figure out how to smuggle them into the house!

Friendly, Knowledgeable Staff

Our staff can give you the details of shipping to our location, lend you the tape gun, explain storage insurance, help you choose the right unit and commiserate on how short the summer was. We may be biased, but we think we have the best staff!

What’s it Like in Glen Cove, New York?

Glen Cove is on the North Shore of Long Island in Nassau County. It was founded in 1688, and quickly became an industrial hub with a sawmill, grist mill and by the 1680s, a number of craftspeople, including carpenters, weavers, wool spinners, saddlers, tailors, millers and shipbuilders had set up homes and established a courthouse, government, justice of the peace and constables.

When the Revolutionary War first began, most area townsfolk tried to remain neutral, with only 12% supporting the Patriots and 18% supporting England. After the massive defeat of Washington at the battle of Long Island in 1776, the Patriots gained a number of followers, even though much of Long Island remained under British control until the end of the War. Once the dust settled, residents went back to manufacturing and this time added clay mining to the mix, which turned out to be fine for pottery.

A steamship was added to New York City in 1829, and turned Glen Cove into a resort town. At the turn of the 20th century, a bunch of very rich people including J.P. Morgan, Charles Pratt, and Henry Phipps Jr. built massive estates along the shoreline. A ferry still runs between NYC and Glen Cove.

That was then, but what about now? Glen Cove gets a solid B rating on niche.com,  with high marks for diversity, nightlife, health and fitness and outdoor activities, but only a B for public schools and cost of living. The median home value is $508,300, with 53% of residents renting and 47% owning their homes.

Glen Cove likes their peace and quiet, and has pretty strict noise by-laws. Between 10 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., if the by-law officer can hear an animal or bird from 50 feet away then you’re going to have a problem, and if it goes on for longer than five minutes any time, it doesn’t matter what time of day it is. So you’d better hope that the new puppy doesn’t have separation anxiety and barks! Unreasonable noise also includes: "Yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing on any public streets, sidewalks, business premises open to the public, office or any public property, when intentionally done to create or recklessly creating a risk of public annoyance, alarm or inconvenience." So, if your team wins a championship, you'd better celebrate quietly, especially if your neighbors are supporting the other team.
