Grand Avenue Amenities

Our Grand Avenue, Brooklyn, New York location has a variety of self-storage sizes, from 4’x 4’ lockers to extra-large 86’ x 24’ units. We also have a number of amenities to keep you and your possessions safe and sound.

Climate-Controlled Units

Just like people, items such as books, photos, fabric, furniture and other valuables don’t like to be too hot or too cold, and temperature fluctuations are evil. We keep our climate-controlled units between 55°F in the winter and 78°F in the summer so the temperature is always just right.

Security Cameras

Who are you looking at? We’re looking at you, and everyone else who is in our facility. We have security surveillance cameras operating 24/7/365 so both you and your possessions will be safe and sound

24/7/365 Access

You’re an insomniac and decide to get a jump on the seasonal decorations. You just got off the night shift and need to grab something on your way home. We understand that not everyone operates in an 8:00 am to 5:00 pm world, so you can have access to your unit any time you want, day or night, weekend or holiday.  Let our store managers know that you require 24/7 access and they will assist you with setting it up.

Motion-Activated Lighting

Light it up! We have bright, motion-activated lighting in all our hallways, entrances and elevators. No need to fumble with a flashlight while carrying your boxes, keys and phone, you’ll be able to see what you are doing, and we will too!

Digital Security System

Every unit has an individual digital access code. It’s the only way to access the facility, your unit’s floor and the elevator. It also allows us to know who is coming and going at all times.

Elevators

Your personal access code will give you access to the elevators, even after hours. You don’t have to worry about taking the stairs with your arms full of boxes.

Elevated Loading Platforms

Elevated loading platforms make loading and unloading a truck super-easy. Okay, nothing about moving is super-easy, but we’re doing our best! You can walk from your truck right onto the platform without lifting.

Covered Loading Areas

New Yorkers know about the weather, and there is nothing worse than moving your stuff when it’s wet, cold, raining or snowing. We can’t control the weather, but we have covered loading areas that protect you from inclement weather while you get things done.

Call Boxes and Intercoms

We have call boxes and intercoms to give you instant access to our amazing staff during normal business hours. You can reach the office without ever leaving your unit. And if you have a question during off-hours, leave us a voice mail or send us an email and we will help you out when the office opens.

Business/Commercial Accounts Welcome

Commercial space in NYC is expensive, right? We understand small and medium businesses might need some affordable storage space, and we are happy to accept business and commercial accounts.

OnlineBill Pay/ No Contact Rental

You can check out units, rent a unit online and sign for it digitally, view and pay your bill and you won’t need to deal with any of it in person. We make things easy and convenient.

Boxes, Packing and Moving Supplies

Anyone who has had a box from the liquor or grocery store fall apart in the middle of a move knows that it’s better to use new boxes. It’s also easier to organize your storage unit if all the boxes are the same size. We have a full complement of boxes, packing materials, tape and bubble wrap to make your job easier. Plus bubble wrap is fun!

Dollies and Hand Carts

It’s hard enough getting people to help you move without them discovering your storage unit is at the far end of the building. Luckily, we have dollies and hand carts available to borrow so you can easily push or pull rather than lug your items.

Free Wi-Fi

We offer free Wi-Fi to all our customers so you can stay connected while you’re on the premises. Who’s playing the ball game today? Did you see that video of the cat?

Large Parking Lot and Rental Parking

No need to drive around the block waiting for someone to leave. We have lots of parking onsite. And if you need to park a vehicle somewhere, we also offer rental parking, so you can tuck your convertible in for the winter safe and sound.

Month-to-Month Rentals

Sometimes you just need somewhere to store your stuff for a couple of months because you are moving/renovating/out of school for the summer/another reason we won’t ask about. We offer month-to-month, short- and long-term rentals. Plus you can complete the process online.

Friendly, Knowledgeable Staff

Wondering what size of unit to rent? Wondering if you can fit a six-foot plastic Grinch, a tent and an inflatable pool in a small self-storage unit? Wondering why everyone hates the Yankees? Okay, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad, and our friendly, knowledgeable staff can help you with all your storage needs. They might even have an opinion of the Yankees...

Free Truck and Shuttle Service

We offer a free truck and shuttle service if you need self-storage but don’t have a way to get to us. Give us a call to discuss the details.

What’s it Like in Grand Ave, Brooklyn New York?

Brooklyn is in the southwestern part of Long Island, but is not considered part of Long Island. Back in 1898,  New York City was coming together into boroughs, and part of Queens County decided they didn’t want to be part of the Big Apple, and broke off and formed Nassau County. Brooklyn stayed a part of NYC and is the largest borough.

Some of the Best Neighborhoods in Brooklyn are right around Grand Ave, including Brooklyn Heights. Niche.com gives Brooklyn an overall A rating, with top marks for outdoor activities, good for families, health and fitness, diversity and nightlife. There are just under 2.6 million people in Brooklyn, and it must be doing something right since lots of famous people, including Jay-Z,  Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and John Krasinsky, Adam Driver, Mary Louise Parker and Paul Giamatti have all called Brooklyn home at one time or another.

Brooklyn is home to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, located right on the East River. It began banging out ships in 1801 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It produced wooden ships for the U.S. Navy through the 1870s, and steel ships after the American Civil War in the 1860s, built warships for the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II, including the Missouri, which served as the site of the Japanese surrender. The shipyard was decommissioned and closed in 1965.

Brooklyn is also home to more than 700 cultural and arts institutions, and an array of cultural influences due to the waves of immigrants who have made Brooklyn home.
